Great Resource for Development Of Your Soft Skills
I recently came across an archive of business training resources that I really, really, like. The International Freelancers Academy (IFA) is offering online training that is specifically designed and topically relevant for solo businesses.
We All Love Free – But Free Doesn’t Mean Cheap
I have attended training workshops and college courses that contain content of this caliber and had to pay for tuition or fees, travel and other expenses for that training. But you don’t find that here. I have yet to work my way through their archive, but found the topics quite detailed (nearly 1.5 hrs in length) for some. Topics may include download links for the online presentation, PDF handouts and possibly, an mp3 audio of the presentation. How good is that? You won’t have to stay glued in one spot! The Issue Arose With an Offer
A commission of sorts recently came up where the potential client was asking for an existing painting to be copied, and a group of artists were discussing the legality of the offer. Without mentioning details, let us just say that the image wasn’t in the public domain. This issue also arises when composing a new work of art, such as images (in full or in part), subject matter or other elements, depending on how much an artist borrowed from the original. Packaging Your Portfolio For the Art World

“Creatives” are Inherently Diverse
For individuals who carry the moniker of artist, everything is an expression of their creativity. From the work they do to the way the coffee table books and curios are arranged. They may be a consultant by trade but also a lyricist, musician, painter and photographer. Many of which aren’t just skilled in multiple artistic expressions but also in the scope of the pieces. In looking at their portfolios, most cover an array of mediums and subjects.
In the Outside World Diversity Is Encouraged
Our modern culture (the same culture that gave birth to multitasking) rewards diverse skills, we even refer to it with quaint expressions like Jack-of-all-trades, and wearing many hats. (continue reading…)
